Crone depicts the horrors of witch persecutions as a matrix for what is still going on in our world today. With this work, I want to lift those who suffered and those who suffer from 'the Crown on the wrong Heads' from the shadows and give them a respectful place in the light.
My works often depict 'giving the right to exist to those who were and are not seen and unheard in the distant and less distant past, but also today. It concerns both; individuals and larger groups or even entire population groups that have been and are being silenced by large rulers such as the government and the church and by smaller rulers with a high position or high esteem.
The horrors of the witch hunts, in which ecclesiastical and other rulers jointly drew up and used their own rules in order to find justification to get rid of 'people who did not conform to the parties in power', under the heading 'in the interest of society, for the safety of all of us'.
Similar 'witch hunts' still take place in today's society; In a new time, in a new coat but actually with the same theme.

Exhibition of artists from the municipalities Landerd and Uden in the context of the merger of those two. Unveiling artwork 'Formation' Sunday, July 5. Information: firstname.lastname@example.org
Stefanie continues her search for the pure, real and authentic in people with the merger of the municipalities of Landerd and Uden. She hopes that in this merger, the similarities and contrasts of the 6 different villages may be visible and remain. A new unity that retains the individuality of each one. Because therein lies the beauty. The ísness.
June 16 through July 16, 2017.
In addition to her job as a coordinator in Special Education, Stefanie studied at the ArtEZ, University of the Arts in Arnhem. During her graduation year, she is looking into the origins of psychiatric labels that are placed on people and the reasonableness of this. Because if there is such a thing as 'abnormal', there also must be a norm for 'normal'. But what is normal? Who is normal? And who determines that? Stefanie translates her resistance against the excesses of sticking labels on people into visual work.

"Stick labels on a can of beans.", says Stefanie van den Elzen, great admirer of addviations in man. She went in search of the origin of psychiatric labels that are stuck on people and the reasonableness of that.
Four years with lots of new knowledge, skills and inspiration.
I have learned that I can play again.
My new title: Educator in Fine Arts and Design.
